WATCH: Uchenna and Olatunji on target as Sparta Prague’s Nigerian duo shine in win over Malmo

Nigerian defender Emmanuel Uchenna made an unforgettable debut for Sparta Prague, scoring within eight minutes to set his new team on the path to a 3-1 victory over Malmö FF in a friendly match on Friday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Victor Olatunji, Uchenna’s compatriot, also found the net as the Czech champions warmed up for a crucial second half of the season.

Sparta Prague struck early through Uchenna’s fine header after the defender made a well-timed run into the box, capitalising on his side’s fast start.

However, Malmö responded in the 35th minute with Hugo Bolin’s clinical equaliser, keeping the game finely poised heading into halftime.

The introduction of Victor Olatunji in the second half brought fresh energy to the Sparta attack.

Just minutes after his arrival, the forward restored the home side’s lead with a close-range header on the hour mark.

Left-back Martin Suchomel then sealed the victory in the 76th minute, heading in from a set-piece to wrap up an assured performance.

Uchenna’s Dream Start

Uchenna’s debut comes amid high expectations following his move from Baník Ostrava in December.

The 21-year-old defender, who signed a long-term deal with Sparta Prague, wasted no time in demonstrating his value, delivering a commanding performance in defence while contributing significantly to the attack.

The former Ikorodu City FC player’s rapid rise has been remarkable.

After moving to the Czech Republic in early 2023, Uchenna impressed on loan in the lower leagues before establishing himself in Baník Ostrava’s first team.

His performances earned him a €2 million transfer to Sparta, where he now aims to secure a regular starting role.

Handed the captain’s armband on his debut, Uchenna justified the trust placed in him by coach Brian Priske.

Sparta Prague will face Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt in their next friendly as they continue preparations for the resumption of competitive action.
