The Super Eagles of Nigeria emerged as the table toppers of their group in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which sealed their place in the upcoming edition.
Not only them, but the women’s senior national team will also be flying the colours of Nigeria in the continental tournament as they eye their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.

From national teams to club sides, the CHAN Eagles, Super Eagles, Super Falcons, Flying Eagles, and Enyimba will all be busy across a packed calendar. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect from this exciting year of African football.
Nigeria’s football teams are set for a busy 2025 with several key CAF tournaments on the horizon. The Super Eagles will aim for their fourth AFCON title, while the Super Falcons will chase a record-extending 10th WAFCON trophy in Morocco to further cement their dominance in African football.
The Flying Eagles will focus on securing a top-four finish at the AFCON U-20 tournament to qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, the CHAN Eagles, representing home-based players, will compete in the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship to seal their first-ever title. Enyimba, one of Nigeria’s top club, and the only Nigerian team participating in the CAF Confederation Cup, will also target glory.
The CHAN Eagles will start the year competing in the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) from February 1-28, showcasing the best talents from Nigeria’s domestic league.
In April, the Flying Eagles will feature in the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled from April 26 to May 18, with the goal of securing a top-four finish to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Later, from July 5-26, the Super Falcons will chase their 10th title at the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The year will close with the Super Eagles’ participation in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), taking place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, where they’ll aim for a record-equalling fourth continental title.
Nigeria will be well-represented in several major CAF tournaments in 2025. The CHAN Eagles will compete in CHAN 2024, co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Super Falcons will aim for glory at the WAFCON hosted by Morocco.
The Flying Eagles will compete in the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, while the Super Eagles will close the year with AFCON 2025, slated to be held in Morocco.
