Report: Nottingham Forest face Ola Aina heartbreak as Manchester City links thicken

Reigning English Premier League champions Manchester City are growing confident that they can sign Ola Aina from Nottingham Forest this January, Soccernet.ng reports.

Aina has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season. His brilliance has been important to Nottingham Forest’s performance this season, as they sit second in the Premier League, just six points behind leaders Liverpool.

His displays have not gone unnoticed, as even former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher included him in his Team of the first half of the season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have been linked with Aina, as they are looking to use him to replace long-serving right-back Kyle Walker who has been struggling this season.

Now, in a new development, per Manchester Iconic, the Cityzens are growing increasingly confident that they can land Aina.

Recall that the 28-year-old defender has just six months left on his current contract with Nottingham Forest, and he is yet to sign a new deal. Due to hesitation, Manchester City could swoop in for him.

A move to Manchester would guarantee Aina more money. Also, it puts him in a great position to contest for silverware this season and next season.

Moreover, Nottingham Forest haven’t shown much faith in him, as since he arrived at the club, they have only given him one-year contracts at a time. That clearly shows that he does not have strong ties with them.

If Aina makes it clear to Nottingham Forest that he will not sign an extension, the club may be forced to sell him off and make a profit. Hence, Manchester City may not even need up to €20 million to land the Super Eagles star’s signature.
