German Bundesliga Champions Bayer Leverkusen have excluded Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface from their squad, which will take on Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Boniface’s future has been a big subject in the past week following speculations linking him with a transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
The Saudi-based giants have lost Anderson Talisca to Fenerbahce and have identified Boniface and Jhon Duran as the top choices as replacements.
Al Nassr officials are already in Germany, with reports suggesting they have already agreed on a €60 million deal with Die Werkself. Boniface is reportedly keen on making the move, as Al Nassr have placed a bumper €15 million per year deal on the table.
In a new development, per Werkself Xtra, Boniface has been excluded from Bayer Leverkusen’s game against Sparta Prague on Wednesday. This is as the club do not want to compromise the Nigerian’s transfer.
None of the parties involved in the transfer have officially come out to confirm the deal, but it is expected to be finalised in the coming hours, barring any last-minute changes.
The transfer is good business for Bayer Leverkusen, as they will make more than twice the €21.7 million they paid Royale Union for the Nigerian’s services in July 2023.
This is not surprising as the 23-year-old Nigerian attacker has been brilliant since he joined Bayer Leverkusen. The Super Eagles star has registered 29 goals and 11 assists for Die Werkself in 49 appearances.
