“I’m really happy” – Mikel Arteta weighs in on Super Eagles star’s red-hot form

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal team maintain their position as strong contenders in the race for the English Premier League title as they currently sitting in the third place of the standings

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his delight with the impressive form of Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi, Soccernet.ng reports.

Fulham hosted the Gunners at Craven Cottage in their London derby, which ended in a stalemate. Iwobi played a pivotal role, showcasing his quality and solidifying his team’s performance.

The Spanish boss praised the Nigerian international, revealing that Iwobi, his former teammate at Arsenal, is beginning to fulfil his potential.

“I always liked him a lot. I thought that he had tremendous talent and a very special quality. He has the capacity to play in different spaces and positions. I’m really happy to see him performing at this level,” Arteta said, as qouted by Metro Uk.

Iwobi spent 15 years at Arsenal, his boyhood club, before being sold to Everton by Unai Emery in 2019. The Super Eagles star enjoyed a four-year stint with the Toffees before moving to Fulham.

Over the last 18 months, Iwobi has been in sensational form for the West London side, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in 50 appearances. In the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, his recent brace against Brighton took his tally to five goals in 17 matches.

Fulham will face Liverpool at Anfield in their next Premier League clash, with Iwobi expected to continue his outstanding performances under Marco Silva.
