“He’s done an incredible job” – Super Eagles star lauds Vincent’s Kompany start to life with Bayern despite DFB Pokal exit

Super Eagles and Bayer 04 Leverkusen attacker, Nathan Tella, has heaped praise on Bayern Munich’s head coach, Vincent Kompany, for the way he has heralded the record Bundesliga champions this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Kompany joined the Bavarian giants after relegating Burnley from the English Premier League last season, replacing Thomas Tuchel in the Bayern dugout.

Bayern are currently top of the Bundesliga table heading into Christmas, a situation that wasn’t the same last season, as Xabi Alonso’s side were at the top of the summit at the end of the Hinründe.

Nathan Tella came off the bench in Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s win over Kompany’s side last night, scoring the only goal of the game, heading into the back of the net from an Alejandro Grimaldo cross.

After the game at the Allianz Arena, Tella and Kompany engaged in a warm embrace, sharing smiles following their re-union despite being on opposing sides. Nonetheless, the Nigerian was full of praise for his former boss.

“He’s done an incredible job since he’s been there. He’s changed the dynamic of the team. They’re in a better place now than they were last season.

They’ve been a really strong team, and I’m happy to win and to see him, but more importantly, the team’s good result today,” the 25-year-old said to ESPN following Leverkusen’s 1-0 win against Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal.

Tella and Kompany worked together at Burnley, winning the EFL Championships together. During his time at the club, Tella scored 19 goals and provided five assists in 45 games for The Clarets, before joining Leverkusen the following summer.
