Trabzonspor interested in Super Eagles left-back

Former Turkish Super Lig champions Trabzonspor are interested in Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi, Soccernet.ng reports.

Trabzonspor have failed to make an impact in the Super Lig after they won the title two years ago. In fact, they have had consecutive third and fifth finishes in the Super Lig.

However, they have been quite busy in the transfer market in the past year, in their bid to push the league’s big boys Fenerbahce and Galatasaray for the league.

Trabzonspor are looking to bolster their left-back position. And according to Furkan Celik, they have their sights set on signing Nigeria’s Bruno Onyemaechi from Portuguese side Boavista.

The 25-year-old defender has been a constant fixture in Boavista’s backline for the past two seasons. This season, he has played in all eleven of their Liga Portugal games.

Onyemaechi is currently valued at €3 million, a fee which Boavista could easily afford. The Nigerian defender might be interested in making the transfer, as it an obvious step up.

He has spent all of his professional career in Portugal, featuring for Feirense previously. So it will be an entire change for him.

Onyemaechi made his debut for Nigeria in 2023, when the team was still under the tutelage of Jose Peseiro, and he has racked up six caps.
