“He reminds me of Haaland” – New Man United boss Amorim urged to make Super Eagles star his first signing

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has urged new manager Ruben Amorim to prioritise the signing of Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

Frenchman Saha is convinced that Super Eagles star Osimhen could solve Manchester United’s ongoing goal-scoring woes.

United have struggled in attack this season, managing only 12 goals in their opening 11 Premier League matches. Six of those came against newly promoted sides Southampton and Leicester.

Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, United’s current striking options, have each netted just once in the league.

Saha, a two-time Premier League winner with United, believes Osimhen’s proven track record makes him the ideal solution.

Speaking to Boyle Sports, Saha said:

“If you look at the stats, Man Utd should go after Victor Osimhen over Viktor Gyokeres, it’s as simple as that.

“He’s been scoring goals for four years at Napoli and has done exactly the same since joining Galatasaray, scoring goals for fun.”

Osimhen, who played a key role in Napoli’s 2022/23 Serie A triumph, joined Galatasaray on loan this summer after a permanent transfer failed to materialise.

The Nigerian striker has continued to thrive, reinforcing Saha’s confidence in his abilities.

“He is a huge character and has the confidence to be a success everywhere he goes,” Saha added.

“I think there is a bit more of a guarantee behind him given the amount of time he has been successful. He is a big-game player and loves the game. He doesn’t care how his goals go in; he just wants to score, and that’s what he does.”

Saha also drew comparisons to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, highlighting Osimhen’s focus and determination.

“He reminds me of Erling Haaland in that sense. I think he could be what Man Utd need,” he said.

With the January window still weeks away, Amorim must make do with his current squad.

His first test as United manager will come next Sunday in a Premier League clash against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
