Galatasaray forward Yunus Akgun has revealed that Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has given the team a confidence boost since he joined them last summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen left Napoli for Turkish side Galatasaray on a season-long loan during the last transfer window. The 25-year-old Super Eagles striker had to make the switch after failing to secure a transfer to a big club.
However, he has adjusted swiftly to life at Galatasaray, as he has produced four goals and four assists in seven appearances across all competitions.
Since Osimhen arrived, the reigning Turkish champions have been almost invincible. They have won seven and drawn just two of their last nine games in all competitions.
The Lions are in the form of their lives, and Akgun believes that it is due to the presence of Osimhen and Argentina striker Mauro Icardi.
“Icardi and Osimhen are great players and very high-quality people. I am very happy to be on the field with them. Of course, the support they give me is very important to me,” Akgun said, per Webaslan.
Of course this motivates me. Yes, names like Icardi and Osimhen give us a lot of confidence on the pitch.”
Galatasaray currently sit pretty at the summit of the Super Lig table. And they will be looking to keep it that way and even win the Europa League at the end of the campaign.
