Former Super Lig kings plotting bid for Super Eagles striker in January

Former Turkish Super Lig champions Trabzonspor are planning to offer Southampton $10 million plus bonuses for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, Soccernet.ng reports.

Onuachu has played a peripheral role at Southampton since he joined the club from Genk in 2023. The Super Eagles star had a big reputation in Belgium, but he did not have a great start to life at St. Mary’s.

Due to his struggles, Onuachu had to move to Trabzonspor in a season-long loan at the start to the season. There, he was quite brilliant, registering 17 goals and four assists in 25 appearances.

After the expiration of the loan deal, Trabzonspor showed interest in signing Onuachu permanently. But they failed to agree on a deal with Southampton who were demanding $15 million.

Onuachu had to remain at Southampton, but his struggles have not ended, as coach Russell Martin does not like his profile. He has registered only six appearances this season, all of which have been off the bench.

Now, in a new development according to Sabah Spor, Trabzonspor are looking to make another bid for Onuachu in January. They are planning a bid of €10 million, but it would also include bonuses.

Southampton’s stance is not known yet, but they will be willing to let Onuachu leave if they get a right fee.
