Super Eagles Ademola Lookman and Maduka Okoye were in the spotlight as Atalanta and Udinese battled in their recent Serie A clash, Soccernet.ng reports.
The game ended in a 2-1 victory for Gian Gesperini’s men who came from behind to secure all three points against the Little Zebras to extend their winning streak to five games.
During the game, Lookman, who briskly picked up from where he left off in the UEFA Europa League clash against Stuttgart, saw a potential goal canceled.
The ball found his way to the Nigerian attacker after a confusing situation in the box, who lashed the ball past his countryman, Okoye, after finding a space.
After a VAR review by Marco Di Bello, the Super Eagles star’s goal was flagged for an offside and the game restored to a stalemate.
Following this, Udinese opened the scoring, but goals from Mario Pasalic restored parity for the host, and an own goal from Isaak Toure handed Atalanta the victory.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles goalkeeper, Okoye could not prevent the Bergamo-based from finding the net in a 2-1 loss which further extended Udinese’s loss to three games.
Both players have been named in Augustine Eguavoen’s squad list for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying matches against Benin and Rwanda and will be aiming to make an excellent impact in the game.
