“One of my heroes”- Victor Osimhen happy to tread path of two-time CAF POTY

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has expressed elation at joining Galatasaray just like former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray in the summer transfer window after his purported transfer to a top European club fell through.

The Nigerian striker had to make the move in order to get some playing time as he was not included in Napoli, and he has adjusted quickly to life in Turkey.

Osimhen has become a fan favourite, and has been delivering the consistently. The 25-year-old striker has registered two goals and four assists in four games for the Turkish giants.

Recall that one of Osimhen’s idols is former Ivory Coast man Didier Drogba. And he recently revealed how elated he was at following the footsteps of the former Chelsea man, who also had a stint at Galatasaray during his playing days.

“It’s a privilege for me to come to Galatasaray. Drogba also played here, he’s one of my heroes, Osimhen said, per Fanatik.

“Thanks to Galatasaray, everyone here welcomed me very well. I’m at a big club, I’m willing to do anything for this club.”

Despite the love he has gotten from Galatasaray and their fans, Osimhen’s long-term target will be to get a big move soon. It is unlikely that he will get his switch in January. But by next summer, the Super Eagles star could be donning the jersey of another club.
