“Marta, Zidane and Messi” – Super Falcons star picks top three players of all time

Lionel Messi has bagged seven Ballon d'Or titles, four UEFA Champions League victories with FC Barcelona, and leading Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Super Falcons forward, Tony Payne, has shared her picks for the top three footballers of all time, listing football legends who have been an influence on her in the game, Soccernet.ng reports.

In a video shared by ESPN Africa, Payne selected Brazil’s Marta, French icon Zinedine Zidane, and Argentine maestro Lionel Messi as her all-time favourites.

Payne, who plays as a winger, expressed admiration for the Brazilian forward, Marta, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest female players in football history.

“Marta, Zidane, and Messi,” Payne stated. “As a winger, I just love to watch her (Marta) play. I think she is incredible on the ball. She’s definitely one of my idols in football.”

The Super Falcons star didn’t hesitate to praise the Inter Miami forward, as she called him an “amazing player” following his extraordinary ability on the field.

Another of her football idols, Zidane, also made the list, with Payne noting her appreciation for his unique playing style: “Zidane too, I love the way he plays as well.”

The former Sevilla forward continues to shine with the Nigerian national women’s team and her new club, while keeping these football legends as sources of inspiration in her journey.
