Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Bobo Nwabali, has spoken about how he feels after transfer speculations about a potential move to Europe led to nothing, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 28-year-old was linked with a move to several European and Saudi-based clubs after helping Nigeria to the final of the AFCON 2023 tournament, keeping four clean sheets in seven games.
Chippa CEO, Siviwe Mpengesi, also admitted he was unsure the Chilli boys would be able to keep hold of the former Enyimba international due to the plethora of options he had. However, a move didn’t materialize, and Nwabali penned a new three-year deal with the PSL club.
“I wouldn’t say I was really affected by what happened after last season and after the Afcon because it’s football. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t work but as a footballer one thing is for sure is that deals come and deals also crash. One thing I know is that even with all this happening you don’t have to lose your value as a soccer player.
With everything that happened, I even felt like I was going to leave the club but I’m still with the club so it doesn’t change anything,” the Chippa United told iDiski times in quotes revealed by Brila.
During the September International break, Nwabali kept two clean sheets in two games for the Super Eagles in their two games against Rwanda and the Republic of Benin, stamping his number one status despite competition from Maduka Okoye.
