“Bring the trophy home” – Boniface, Ekong, Ndidi, Ajayi, Dele-Bashiru urge Flamingos ahead of U17 World Cup

Several Super Eagles stars have sent their goodwill messages to the Nigeria U17 Women's national team as they get set to kick off their adventure at the 2024 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles and the Flamingos are in the thick of different national assignments.

While the Eagles are in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, preparing to host Libya in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, the Flamingos are in the Dominican Republic where they are making their seventh appearance at the World Cup.

After picking up their first World Cup medal in 2022, the Nigerian teen girls are aiming to win the trophy for the first time this year.

And from the Super Eagles camp in Uyo, team captain William Troost-Ekong has joined a few of his teammates to charge the Flamingos to give their all at the Mundial.

Speaking to Ademola Victor TV, Troost-Ekong told the Flamingos:

“We'll be following the games and tuning in now that we know. So, I wish you girls all the best. Hopefully, you can continue the legacy wearing the green-white-green. All the best.”

Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface also said:

“I wish you guys the best of luck. We will be supporting you from home. We believe in you guys. We hope you guys bring the trophy back home.”

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi added:

“I just want to wish you all the best in the coming competition. First things first, you did amazing to qualify for this, so you should be proud. It's an amazing opportunity to showcase your talents, to showcase what you know how to do.”

West Brom centre-back Semi Ajayi said:

“I'd just like to wish the Flamingos the very best in their upcoming encounter. We are all behind them. We are all rooting for them.

“And I just want them to go out there and make Nigerians proud. There is no pressure. We know how talented they all are. It's just time for them to show the world how good they are.”

SS Lazio star Fisayo Dele-Bashiru added:

“Remember the badge that you're wearing. Nigeria is a country with a massive population. So you should all be very happy. You should all feel proud that you're representing the country.

“I just want to say you should give 100 per cent and make us all very proud in the World Cup. And I trust you guys. So, good luck.”
