Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has waned Arsenal that he and his teammates are charged ahead of their UEFA Champions League opener on Thursday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman returned to action for Atalanta over the weekend, and he provided a nice spectacle for the fans. The 26-year-old forward registered an assist and a goal in their 3-2 Serie A win over Fiorentina at the Gewiss Stadium.
Next up for La Dea is a Champions League game against Arsenal at the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday. Although Atalanta have the home advantage, Arsenal are favourites to win due to the quality of their squad.
Nonetheless, ahead of the game, Lookman, who is brimming with confidence has stated that his side have a good shot at getting a victory over their London visitors.
“Arsenal are a very strong team, and I know what to expect from them. Playing against a team of that level is always a difficult challenge, but we are ready,” Lookman said, per Tutto Atalanta.
“We earned this place in the Champions League thanks to our great last season, and we want to show that we deserve to be here.
“The Gewiss Stadium will be full, and it will be a special environment for a European night like Thursday. We are charged and ready to face the match with the right spirit.”
The last time Atalanta played in the Champions League was the 2021/22 season. They will be looking to make a big impression in Europe’s most prestigious club competition after winning the Europa League last season.
