PSG never bid for Super Eagles’ Osimhen – Sporting Director Campos reveals

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly pursued Victor Osimhen's signature during the 2024 summer transfer window, competing with other top clubs

Paris Saint-Germain’s Sporting Director, Luís Campos, has clarified the club’s reported interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Previous reports in both local and international media suggested that the French Ligue 1 giants were looking to bring the Nigerian international back to France as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappé, who had left for Real Madrid.

In a rare interview with Sport Italia correspondent Tancredi Palmeri, Campos dismissed the rumours, stating that PSG never made a formal offer for the Super Eagles forward despite the speculation.

“PSG never made an offer to Napoli for Osimhen,” Campos confirmed.

When asked about rumours of a last-minute approach from Napoli before the transfer deadline, Campos replied, “That’s the market,” alluding to the unpredictable nature of transfer negotiations.

Osimhen had found himself at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war involving his club, his camp, and potential suitors, though a personal agreement could not be reached.

In the end, Turkish giants Galatasaray expressed interest and secured the Nigerian striker on a season-long loan from Napoli.

As part of the deal, Galatasaray will cover 70% of his annual salary, with Napoli covering the remaining 30%, offering a more favourable arrangement for the Super Eagles star compared to what Chelsea reportedly proposed.

Osimhen recently completed his first training session with the Yellow-Reds and will be eager to make his mark when they face Rizespor at RAMS Park.
