Super Eagles and Sevilla forward, Kelechi Iheanacho Promise, could be on his way out of the club despite just joining the Spanish side last month, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old joined the record UEFA Europa League winners on a free deal, alongside his national team compatriot, Chidera Ejuke.
However, the former Leicester City man has had a tough start to life in Spain, starting just one game. Additionally, he’s yet to score or assist in 156 minutes of football for Garcia Pimienta’s side.
As per Spanish outlet, Todo Fichajes, Iheanacho’s future at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium is currently unclear.
The forward was brought in to replace the Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri, who headed to Turkey to join Jose Mourinho’s side, Fenerbahçe SK.
Iheanacho’s early displays could not convince the club’s board, and it is reported that the former Manchester City forward has fallen in Pimienta’s pecking order in attack.
The 2021 FA Cup winner will be given the time and opportunity to showcase his talent, but if there are no improvements, a loan exit in January is on the cards.
Finding a club for the Nigerian striker could be a big task for Sevilla due to his wages. According to Capology, Iheanacho earns €92,308 weekly and finding a club to pay such wages might be tough.
Iheanacho’s contract with Sevilla runs till the summer of 2026, with the option to extend for another year. His contract also includes a €30 million termination clause, meaning an exit from the club is unlikely as they’ll suffer financial repercussions.
