Reigning Turkish Süper Lig champions Galatasaray have shared pictures of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in his first training session, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen sealed a move to Galatasaray days after the summer transfer window in the top five European leagues closed.
The 25-year-old striker was on the verge of a major summer transfer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Arsenal all showing strong interest. However, negotiations stalled due to an inability to reach a final agreement.
Seizing the opportunity, Galatasaray stepped in, securing a deal that benefitted everyone involved. Napoli managed to offload Osimhen’s wages, while the Nigerian striker found the chance to continue his career in a more supportive and competitive environment.
The deal was completed during the international break. As such, Osimhen was unable to train with his new teammates before joining Nigeria for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
Osimhen got his first training session at Galatasaray on Thursday, and the club shared pictures of him.
The former LOSC Lille striker was in high spirits and was seen exchanging pleasantries with Dries Mertens, his former teammate at Napoli. The duo had a very good relationship when Mertens was in Naples, with the Belgian helping Osimhen settle in when he just joined from Lille.
Galatasaray’s next game is against Rizespor at Rams Park on Saturday, and Osimhen will be looking to start on a high if he starts for his new employers.
