Official: Nigeria’s Tosin Demehin departs French club Stade de Reims after memorable stint

Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has officially parted ways with French D’Arkema side Stade de Reims after two seasons with the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 22-year-old Nigerian international, who joined Reims from Rivers Angels in 2022, made the announcement through her social media accounts, expressing her gratitude to the club and its supporters.

Demehin, who featured prominently for the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, played 26 matches for Reims, including 11 last season, during which she scored one goal.

Reflecting on her time at the club, Demehin posted on X:

“After amazing years & seasons in Reims, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to share and be part of those moments with you.

“I want to thank the President, coaches, club staffs, medical teams and especially my teammates who have become family for the belief and hard work that resulted in an unforgettable championship.

“To the fans, thank you for the support through difficult and simple times. Reims is a special place and now I understand what Remoises means. I wish everyone another successful and amazing season, Allér Rouge. Merci beaucoup pour tout @stadedereims.”

Despite her heartfelt farewell, Demehin has yet to reveal her next career move, leaving fans and clubs curious about her future destination.

Demehin’s rise in European football began after captaining Nigeria to the quarterfinals of the U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

Her impressive performances attracted interest from multiple European clubs, but she ultimately signed for Reims alongside her teammate Rofiat Imuran.

Since then, Demehin has become a crucial part of the Super Falcons squad, starting in all of Nigeria’s games at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and this summer’s Paris Olympics.
