Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen leaves Napoli with Serie A record bettered only by Cristiano and Brazil’s Ronaldo

Victor Osimhen departs Italy after cementing his legacy as one of the most efficient goal scorers in Serie A history, ranking third in minutes-per-goal ratio, trailing only football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and the Brazilian Ronaldo, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward, who recently secured a loan move to Galatasaray from Napoli, leaves Italy with an impressive record that solidifies his status among the greats.

Osimhen, now on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray, made his mark in Serie A with a remarkable scoring rate.

According to Opta, the 25-year-old striker netted a goal every 125 minutes during his time at Napoli, a statistic that places him just behind Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored every 104 minutes, and Ronaldo Nazário, who had a goal every 117 minutes.

Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray comes after failed moves to the Saudi Pro League and Chelsea following a dramatic summer transfer window.

Napoli, having already secured Romelu Lukaku as Osimhen’s replacement, excluded the Nigerian star from their Serie A squad, prompting his loan to Galatasaray.

The striker was welcomed with great fanfare in Istanbul, where thousands of fans greeted him upon his arrival.

Victor Osimhen departs Serie A with a significant contribution, having scored 65 goals in 108 appearances, along with providing 16 assists.

His time in Italy marks his most prolific spell in any league, surpassing his previous tallies of 13 goals in 27 Ligue 1 games with Lille and 12 goals in 25 matches in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League.

In addition to his club achievements, Osimhen has also been a force for the Nigerian national team, where he has netted an impressive 21 goals in just 35 appearances for the Super Eagles.
