New season, same Rashy: Super Falcons star helps Atletico Madrid claim win in La Liga opener

Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade nicked an assist for Atletico Madrid in their 2-0 victory over Granada in their opening game of La Liga Femeni, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ajibade was very impressive for Atletico Madrid femeni last season, helping them to third place in the league. The Super Falcons star registered ten goals and six assists to help her side in La Liga.

She was expected to continue to churn out her impressive performances for Atletico Madrid this season, and she did.

The 24-year-old forward started for her side in their season opener against Granada at the Centro Deportivo, Wanda Alcala de Henares on Wednesday.

Atletico Madrid were overwhelming favourites going into the fixture, and they took the lead barely minutes into the game. Ajibade was the orchestrator, as she played Giovana Queiroz Costa through on goal with a fine pass. The Brazilian forward took no prisoners as she struck the ball into the net to put Atletico Madrid ahead after 13 minutes.

After her goal, Ajibade was quite lively as she registered two successful dribbles, 36 touches, and two key passes.

Atletico Madrid led by the lone goal supplied through Rasheedat until stoppage time when Sheila Guijarro scored the second to seal the 2-0 win for them.

Next up for Atletico Madrid is a game against Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.
