Arteta relies on Riccardo and Jorgi’s insights as Arsenal prepare to face Lookman-led Atalanta

Nigeria international Ademola Lookman is currently firing on all cylinders for both the Super Eagles and Atalanta BC

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has consulted Jorginho and Riccardo Calafiori ahead of the Gunners’ clash with Atalanta, relying on their extensive experience against the Italian side, Soccernet.ng reports.

With Atalanta’s Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman emerging as a key player, Arteta is fully aware of the challenge posed by the talented attacker.

The insights from Jorginho and Calafiori are expected to play a crucial role as Arsenal strategize to counter Lookman’s impact and secure a positive result.

Speaking ahead of the match, Arteta highlighted his conversations with Riccardo and Jorgi, both of whom have faced Atalanta several times during their time in Italy.

“I spoke with Riccardo and Jorgi, as they know the team very well. They know the players, and it’s always very important to get a hold of information. They’ve played in some great games against this squad during the last few seasons, and they’ve done very well,” Arteta said on Arsenal’s club website.

Lookman has been a standout performer for Atalanta, delivering exceptional form for both club and country this year. He has scored six goals for the Super Eagles in 2024 and played a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League victory, netting a hat-trick in their decisive win against Bayer Leverkusen.

Known for his pace, creativity, and goal-scoring ability, the former Everton forward has become a key figure for the Serie A side, making him one of the top threats Arsenal must closely monitor.
