Report: Arsenal edge out Chelsea in race for Osimhen’s Premier League move

Victor Osimhen has been linked with an exit away from the Diego Maradona Stadium with Chelsea and Arsenal vying for his signature

Arsenal have taken a decisive lead over Chelsea in the race to sign Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen as the transfer window nears its dramatic conclusion, Soccernet.ng reports.

According to Repubblica, as reported by Tutto Napoli, the Gunners are now at the forefront of efforts to lure the prolific forward to the Premier League.

As negotiations reach a fever pitch and the deadline looms, Arsenal are making a final push to secure Osimhen’s signature, aiming to outmanoeuvre their London rivals in what has become one of the most closely followed transfer sagas of the summer.

Romelu Lukaku’s transfer has signalled a clear shift in priorities, with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte seemingly placing more trust in the Belgian striker than in Osimhen.

This development has increased speculation that the Super Eagles star could be on his way out of Napoli, with Arsenal emerging as his most likely destination.

Lukaku’s departure has opened a potential path for Chelsea to bring in Osimhen without breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

However, with Napoli’s substantial release clause for Osimhen, Arsenal might have the financial edge to lead the race, putting them in pole position to complete the deal.

Despite murmurs within the Nigerian football community suggesting that Osimhen may not be heading to Stamford Bridge, this latest report from Repubblica further shows that Arsenal are in the best position to land the coveted striker.
