Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is set for his La Liga debut when Sevilla play Villarreal on Friday as the club have found a way to register him, Soccernet.ng reports.
Iheanacho joined Sevilla this summer after the expiration of his contract at English Premier League club Leicester City.
The Nigerian had a decent start to life at Leicester, but he tailed off towards the end of his time at the club. Still, with his inherent quality, he could peak with Los Nervionenses.
Iheanacho got his first minutes at Sevilla in a 4-1 defeat at the hands Liverpool. He got 45 minutes, but he failed to make any big impression.
However, he could not make Sevilla’s matchday squad for their La Liga opener against Las Palmas last Friday. As reported by Soccernet.ng, Los Nervionenses did not register him because of La Liga’s financial rules.
Nonetheless, it now appears that Sevilla will be able to find a way through, because according to Vamosmisevilla, the club has to let go of Argentina defender Marcos Acuna, whose transfer to River Plate was confirmed on Tuesday.
This move would pave the way for Sevilla to accommodate an extra player in their squad, as they will be able to align with La Liga’s financial rules. And with this, Iheanacho will get registered and be available for selection against Villarreal on Friday.
