The 22-year-old spent the last two seasons with Hungarian side, Zalaegerszegi TE, where he scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 88 games.

As announced on the club’s official website, Ubochioma joins the Arabs on a two-year deal with the option to extend for another year.

“I’m so excited. It’s great to be here finally. I’ve always wanted to make the next step in my career, and as soon as I got the call from Dundee United, I knew this was my chance. Scoring and assisting as many as possible are my targets for the season ahead on a personal level, and as a collective, we have goals to work towards, which will need everyone on the team to contribute. I just can’t wait to score my first goal at Tannadice – hopefully, all the fans will be chanting my name,” the Imo-State native said in an interview with the club.

A native of south-east Nigeria, the mercurial winger was born in Imo State and started his football career on the streets. His talent caught the eye of Ligue 1 Champions, PSG.

At 17, Ubochioma jetted out to the French capital club to partake in a trial in the hopes of joining the club. The opportunity allowed him to share a training ground with club stars like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verrati. However, a move did not materialize.

The left-footed winger headed to Hungary to sign for newly-promoted side Zalaegerszegi TE. Immediately after putting pen to paper with the Hungarian side, he embarked on a scintillating loan spell with Slovenian second-tier side NK Nafta.

With NK Nafta, Ubochioma picked, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists, as the Slovenian side finished just one point off the promotion play-offs, having lost just four games that season.

After two seasons with the Zalaegerszegi TE senior team, Ubochioma heads out to Dundee as he looks to rise through the ranks of European football.
