Daniel Bameyi set for reunion with Ladan Bosso at Bayelsa United, deal ‘still in progress’

Daniel Bameyi piqued the interest of former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro who invited for Nigeria’s clash against Guinea-Bissau

One-capped Super Eagles defender Daniel Bameyi is on the brink of joining Nigeria Premier Football League side Bayelsa United, Soccernet.ng reports.

Recent reports in the Nigerian media suggest that the 18-year-old defender has agreed to a deal with the Bayelsa-based club, where he would reunite with his former coach, Ladan Bosso.

Speaking to Soccernet.ng, the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations bronze medalist confirmed the rumours but noted that the transfer is still a work in progress.

Soccernet also reached out to Bayelsa United’s media officer, Hananeel Jackson, who confirmed that Bameyi is currently training with the team. However, he added that no official statement has been released regarding the transfer.

Bameyi rose to prominence under the guidance of Bosso, who called him up to the Flying Eagles squad for the U-20 AFCON tournament, where he captained the team to a third-place finish.

Following his stint with the Nigeria Football Federation, Bosso has taken up the managerial role at Bayelsa United, the 2009 Nigerian Premier League champions, marking his return to domestic football.

Bameyi, who can play as a right-back, right wing-back, or right centre-back, is expected to be a valuable addition to Bosso’s setup for the upcoming season.

The young defender’s versatility and experience under Bosso make him a key asset as Bayelsa United looks to make an impact in the NPFL.

The transfer remains in progress, and fans eagerly await the official announcement that could see Bameyi don the colours of Bayelsa United in the near future.
