Cyriel Dessers dreams of back-to-back trophies with Rangers

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has revealed that he is looking forward to winning the Scottish League Cup with Rangers for a second consecutive season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Dessers turned up clutch for Rangers on Saturday, getting off the bench to inspire their win over St. Johnstone in the round of the 16 of the League Cup.

The first half ended goalless, but Dessers, who was introduced into the game in the second half, scored 15 minutes after his introduction, then he assisted Ross McCausland’s second.

The victory fired Rangers to the quarterfinals of the Scottish League Cup. However, the Gers will have to wait until the end of the round of 16 before the draws are made.

Following the win, Dessers was quite pleased with his team’s performance, and he admitted that he was targeting the title with Rangers again, after winning it last season.

“The mood is positive and we are happy. We had the feeling of winning the League Cup trophy last season and it is an amazing opportunity to win something early in the season. This was the first step, but it is a necessary step,” Dessers said, per Rangers official page.

“It would be a dream to get to another final and win it, so we have to take it step by step and round by round, but this is a good first step.”

With the quality in their squad, the only team that can match Rangers in Scotland is Celtic. If they don’t face the hoops before the final, Dessers has a good shot at winning the League Cup for a second time.
