Report: Trabzonspor to battle Stuttgart for Super Eagles defender

Trabzonspor are currently busy in the transfer market to secure the signature of Nigerian Super Eagles talents

Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor is set to compete with German Bundesliga side Stuttgart for the signature of Super Eagles defender Jordan Torunarigha, Soccernet.ng reports.

Stuttgart, who finished second in the 2023-24 Bundesliga season, has expressed strong interest in bringing the KAA Gent defender back to Germany.

Torunarigha, born in Germany, joined the Jupiler Pro League side in 2022. With his contract expiring in 2025, he has revealed his openness to a potential move away from Gent.

“There are very interesting and concrete conversations that I am currently having. My contract runs until 2025, and I am not in a hurry to leave. We will see what happens. I strive for the highest possible sporting goals. That certainly plays a role in my decision,” he told Transfermarkt, as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.

Trabzonspor, currently in Hungary for their preseason preparations, is making significant strides in the transfer market. According to Fotomac, a new and unexpected candidate has emerged on the Claret-Blue radar: the Super Eagles defender.

The Turkish Super Lig side is evaluating options, including Attila Szalai, but has now initiated talks with Torunarigha. The 1.91-meter tall defender impressed last season with 42 appearances and one goal for Gent.

With a market value of €5 million and a contract running until 2025, the Nigerian international has also attracted attention from several other top clubs, including Leeds United, Crystal Palace, FC Turin, and others.

As Trabzonspor and Stuttgart prepare to battle for his signature, Torunarigha’s future remains a hot topic in the transfer market.
