Italian Serie B side, US Sampdoria, has officially announced the signing of Inter Milan’s Nigerian youngster, Ebenezer Akinsamiro, Soccernet.ng reports.
Initially, there were reports suggesting that the Nigerian midfielder was on the verge of leaving San Siro to join Sampdoria on a season-long loan, pending a medical examination.
While it was confirmed for some time that Akinsamiro would join the Serie B side, the deal faced complications. Sampdoria wanted a permanent transfer, while Inter Milan preferred a loan with the player returning after the spell.
Akinsamiro’s agent clarified the situation: “We have arranged for Akinsamiro to join Sampdoria. The clubs are finalizing the details, but everything is on track. The deal is a loan with an option to buy and a buy-back clause.”
Today, an agreement was reached, with Akinsamiro passing his medical examination. This led to an official announcement by Sampdoria.
“U.C. Sampdoria announces that it has acquired on an annual basis, with an option and counter-option right from F.C. International, the rights to the sports performance of footballer Ebenezer Akinsamiro (born in Lagos, Nigeria, on November 25, 2004). The midfielder is tied to the Blucerchiati until June 30, 2028.” the club announced via their official site.
Akinsamiro is expected to help Sampdoria compete for promotion to Serie A, with the possibility of returning to Inter Milan’s San Siro Stadium when his loan contract expires.
