Zaidu Sanusi out? Porto launch hunt for new left full-back

Former Portuguese Primera Liga champions Porto are searching for a new left-back to sign this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi spent the second half of the season on the treatment table after suffering a cruciate ligament tear while on international duty at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Due to Sanusi’s injury, his only competition at left-back Wendell got a lot of playing time last season. However, the Brazilian could leave the club this summer, with Juventus reportedly interested in a transfer.

In order to avoid being short of options, Porto are looking at new options. According to Nicolo Schira, the former Portuguese champions are interested in signing Napoli’s Mario Rui or Juventus’ Alex Sandro. There is even a possibility that they will sign both players.

If this happens, it could signal the end if Sanusi’s time at Porto. Moreover, it is not the first time that the Nigerian’s future would be in the balance. Last season, he was even linked with an exit to Olympique Marseille and West Ham.

Meanwhile, Sanusi still has three years left on his current deal. And with the 27-year-old’s quality, he could still get a transfer to a decent club in the top five league. But currently, he has not been linked to any club.
