Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has emerged as a transfer target for Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Okoye had a brilliant campaign with Udinese in the just-concluded Serie A season. The Super Eagles star kept five cleansheets in 22 appearances for Udinese. He also had an impressive 72% save accuracy in the Serie A.
Okoye’s brilliance was key in Udinese’s relegation fight, as they finished the campaign from getting relegated, as they finished the season in 15th place, two points above the drop.
Last season was the perfect comeback for Okoye after struggling in the previous two seasons. And it appears the Super Eagles star’s performances have not gone unnoticed.
According to Italian journalist Di Marzio, Inter Milan could make a move for Okoye this summer following his impressive performance for his club.
This summer, the Nerazzurri could lose their back-up goalkeeper Emil Audero, who spent last season on loan at the club. And Okoye is one of the goalkeepers on Inter Milan’s list of potential replacements.
Okoye is valued at €4 million, a relatively decent price, but Inter Milan may fancy getting the Nigerian goalkeeper on loan.
However, it is a transfer that could stunt Okoye’s growth as he may not get enough game time. Nonetheless, the 24-year-old might be tempted to take the deal due to the allure of being on the books of a big club like Inter Milan.
