“He showed irresponsibility”- Ex-Super Eagles star blasts Victor Osimhen after social media outburst

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Idah Peterside has termed Victor Osimhen’s social media outburst as “irresponsible” and a disrespect to Nigerian football, Soccernet.ng reports.

On Saturday, a fake report surfaced on social media where Finidi George had questioned Osimhen’s commitment to the national team.

However, the Napoli hitman did not take it lightly, as he went on a bizarre rant on social media, where he spoke about Finidi in a disrespectful manner and hurled curses at fans who were criticizing him. In fact, Osimhen only stopped when his phone was forcefully collected from him.

That incident has dominated conversations around Nigerian football, displacing the merry-go-round in the Nigeria Football Federation concerning the Super Eagles coaching position.

Following Osimhen outburst, former Nigeria international Peterside has expressed disappointment with the Napoli star because he believes it was an irresponsible act. And Peterside has called on the former Lille man to apologize for his actions.

“He (Osimhen) needs to come outside and apologize for the things he said to Finidi, Peterside said on social media.

“Finidi George is a legend, You don’t just widen your mouth and say things that are unpalatable. If you have issues with the man, pick up your phone and call him. That’s what responsible people do.

“Osimhen has just shown a bit of irresponsibility, and that’s unexpected. I think the NFF should call Osimhen’s and ask him to apologize. He has to apologize for saying things.”

As it stands, Osimhen would have to apologize to Finidi, because even the post that made him rant was fake.

  • Ida Peter your's to Osinmhen is worst than Osinmhens outburst as and elder to the two,
while I like that of Ogbeche
You don't pay bad with bad is just what you said both are our children and brothers though he Osinmhen way he put it is the kind of hearted player he is, am not sure you know the media very well in this country, in your playing days not many know you like other notable player like Rasheedi Yekini Aiyegbeni Kanu and many others
As brothers let make it easy for everyone playing or not now that we are all angry of our poor results
Am not sure if Finidi say what Osinmhen claimed, but I read it in the social media is good for Osinmhen kind of player who hhave the Nigerians heart in his heart
Like I donk know so much because youu didn't play a world cup football for Nigeria in the world cup but in South Africa so yoyu need to calm dwoen both side they will reunite who know

Minister of sport you were outside in sport ministry but ow you re there shall we remain with our past glory, don't we deserve the best if yes clean the house because you own us a lots in football, your failure to develope pot more your legacy will be written against you trust Nigerans
Thhe NFF hold 100% of our failures in football for a very long tiime now "Nepotism Tribal region and corruptions practices that have been there for many years they don't care for result but their gains first
Untill we chance all these we have no progressive result in this level
    My personal opinion

  • Everyone is looking for who to blame, all the ex players who read this report and kept quiet without asking Finidi whether he said that about Osimhen , shame on them. Why did they not intervene on time waiting for a reaction to condemn the boy. Who will not believe or react to such a report after appropriately explaining his absence. Again neither Finidi nor his camp denied it hence Osimhen reacted negatively. I am sure they will settle it privately
