Victor Boniface to battle Leipzig star, Chelsea-owned defender, Hoffenheim forward for Bundesliga prize

Boniface has been brilliant for Bayer Leverkusen this season, and he has been nominated for one of the awards of the season

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has been nominated for the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award alongside four others, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface has enjoyed an incredible campaign with Bayer Leverkusen. The 23-year-old Nigeria has played an impressive role for Die Werkself this season, registering twenty goals and ten assists in 32 appearances.

With him in the team, Bayer Leverkusen have won their first-ever Bundesliga title, they look set to win the Europa League trophy, and are favourites to win the finals of the German Cup, where they face Kaiserslautern.

Boniface sustained an injury at the turn of last year. If not for that, he probably would have registered more goal involvements. Before his injury, the former Royale Union SG star won the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award four consecutive times.

In a new development, the Bundesliga have announced the nominees for the Rookie award for players, and Boniface made the cut.

Boniface was nominated alongside RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, who has registered seven goals and eleven assists in 31 games.

Also, he will face competition from Ian Maatsen who plays for Borussia Dortmund on loan from Chelsea. The final nominee is Maximilian Beier, who has 15 goals and two assists in 32 Bundesliga games.
