Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka scored twice to help his Red Star Belgrade side defeat Cukaricki 4-1 and seal their status as champions of the Serbian League, Soccernet.ng reports.
Olayinka joined Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade last summer after five impressive seasons at Czech Republic Slavia Prague.
The club is the most successful in Serbia, they won the last sex consecutive Serbian league titles and have 34 titles altogether.
This season, they have continued with their dominance. They already won the Serbian Cup last week, when they defeated Vojvodina 2-1. Olayinka played the entire game, but he failed to find the net.
Then on Sunday, Red Star Belgrade wrapped up the the Serbian league title. Olayinka scored in both halves, while Nasser Djiga and Jean-Philippe Krasso added their to seal a 4-1 win over Cukaricki. That sealed the club’s 35th title, extending the gap between themselves and rivals Partizan Belgrade.
Olayinka had a very effective campaign in his first season for Red Star Belgrade. The 28-year-old striker registered eleven games and four assists in 35 league games.
Olayinka’s feat with his Serbian side ensures that he joins the exclusive list of Super Eagles stars like Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella, who have won two trophies this season.
