Former Somali national team head coach Said Abdi Haibeh is convinced that Arsenal is the perfect club for Nigeria international Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen will be one of the most sought-after strikers when the transfer window opens in the summer.
The Super Eagles ace has managed 15 goals in all competitions for Napoli this term, but he continues to be considered among the finest forwards in the game.
Chelsea and Arsenal are believed to be leading the race for his signature in England, while Paris Saint Germain are known admirers in France.
Chelsea are in the middle of a rebuilding process, and the Blues are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season after an underwhelming campaign.
Arsenal are a bit further in their transition process, with the Gunners challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.
And according to Abdi Haibeh, Osimhen will thrive better in Mikel Arteta’s set-up at Arsenal than at Mauricio Pochettino’s inconsistent Blues.
“I do not believe that Chelsea will be a good fit for Osimhen, as Chelsea is currently a club in the midst of a transition,” the 52-year-old told Flashscore.
“As they have signed many young players and hired a new manager, it will take some time for them to improve to the point where they are able to compete in the top three clubs in the English Premier League.
“Before Osimhen, Real Madrid had two target players, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, who were both on the summer transfer list of Real Madrid, ahead of Osimhen.
“It would seem that Arsenal would be the clear front-runner to sign Osimhen now that Real Madrid has secured their target man.
“The Arsenal team has improved in the past 18 months, but they are still lacking a front man. There is no doubt that Osimhen would be a perfect fit for their starting lineup.”
However, Osimhen is reportedly not the only striker that Arsenal are looking to sign.
The Gunners keep their options open and remain keen on Joshua Zirkzee, Viktor Gyokeres, and Ivan Toney.
