Super Eagles-eligible forward, Tolu Arokodare, scored the only goal in KRC Genk’s Jupiler Pro League Championship Group clash with Union Saint-Gilloise, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
At the Cegeka Arena, the Smurfs secured all three points thanks to Arokodare’s first-half strike, capitalizing on Patrik Hrosovsky’s assist to score the lone goal in the entire 90 minutes.
Hrosovsky provided the former FC Koln forward with a nice pass inside the box, allowing him to finish with a precise effort into the bottom right corner past Luxembourg goalkeeper Anthony Moris.
With this, the former Amiens striker has scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists in 42 games for Genk this season, raising questions about whether he is meeting expectations in Belgium.
Arokodare was signed following the exit of Paul Onuachu in the January 2023 transfer window to English side Southampton, and since then, he has slowly adjusted to life in Belgium.
In fact, he has been the subject of criticism and racism following a slow start to his time, failing to meet the expectations of Genk football fans.
However, with his recent performance for the club, especially scoring a crucial goal for Genk to put them on course for winning their fifth Jupiler Pro League title.
