“Among top five in the world”- Ex-Napoli striker reveals admiration for Nigeria star Victor Osimhen

Former Napoli striker Cristian Bucchi has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for his impressive qualities that have helped the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen joined Napoli in 2020 from French Ligue 1 club Lille in a deal worth €75 million. He arrived with a lot of promise after a brilliant campaign at Lille.

The 25-year-old struggled in his first season due to injuries, but he picked up in his second season. Since then, the Super Eagles star has formed an important part of the club. His performances have also seen him linked to various top sides in Europe.

This season, Osimhen has kept up with his brilliance despite being hampered by injuries. He has registered 12 goals and three assists in 19 appearances for Napoli. Last week, he scored a superb goal to spur Napoli in their hard-fought win over Monza.

Former Napoli man Bucchi has been impressed with what he has seen from the Nigeria international, and he has extolled his qualities.

“Osimhen, for me, is one of the best strikers in the world, because he brings together extraordinary physical characteristics: speed, elevation, excessive power,” he said, per Napoli Magazine.

“Over the years he has grown a lot, he scores a lot of goals, he weighs a lot in terms of the number of goals and is therefore decisive. Lastly, it is the attitude: I am someone who observes a lot, I take clips of the attitudes of the players, especially the most important ones. Every time there is a pass for Osimhen he turns and claps his hands with his teammate, one of the most beautiful things ever.

“Osimhen is a champion today and if he shows himself with humility and at the service of the team, he will encourage the rest of the team. I don’t know if he will stay in Naples, but he is certainly among the 5 best in the world.”

Due to Osimhen’s brilliance for Napoli, he has been linked with a transfer away from the club. Arsenal, PSG, and Chelsea have emerged as potential destinations, but nothing concrete has emerged yet. There is nothing official yet, but it is likely that he will leave the club in the summer.
