Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has fired a note of warning to Sporting Lagos head coach, Paul Offor, ahead of their clash in the NPFL on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The hugely anticipated South West derby came to life in the Naija Super 8 after newly promoted Sporting Lagos refused to be defeated on two occasions at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena last year.
A fully sold-out stadium under the lights in Lagos Island, with several fans unable to get in highlighted what football means for the locals and fans of the clubs involved in this newly forged derby in the Nigerian league.
While Sporting Lagos made history in the Naija Super 8, Remo Stars had the better of the noisy Lagosians in the reverse fixture earlier this season, defeating coach Paul Offor’s men 2-1 in Ikenne.
Speaking ahead of the clash tomorrow, coach Daniel Ogunmodede reiterated that he doesn’t fear the home advantage Sporting have in their hands, and believes his away fans can match the energy.
“Their position doesn’t justify their performance on the pitch, they’re a very good side, and will be bringing the smoke but we’ll be ready. They have great fans, but I trust our fans to troop out tomorrow and match the energy,” the Remo Stars gaffer said in quotes monitored by Soccernet.ng.
Sporting Lagos have only lost one of their last five games, winning three and drawing four and are set to cause chaos for the Ikenne faithful.
Sporting Lagos will be without talisman Clement Naantaum who picked up a knock. In-form midfielder, Tochukwu Udeh will also not be able to play as per the contract details between both teams as he is on loan for Remo Stars.
The game kicks off at 4:00 PM tomorrow at the Moboloji Johnson Arena in Lagos, Nigeria.
