“He can become a reference player for our team”- Atalanta boss Gian Pero Gasperini extols Ademola Lookman’s qualities

Atalanta coach Gian Pero Gasperini has praised Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman for his improvement this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigerian forward Lookman has been very important for Atalanta this season. The Super Eagles star has improved greatly from last season, when he just joined from RB Leipzig.

Despite just arriving at Atalanta last season, Lookmqn produced 13 goals and three assists in 31 games for La Dea. He started slowly at the club, but he started to get more minutes as the season wore on.

This season, Lookman has fully come into his own at Atalanta, becoming one of the most important players on the team. In his 21 games, Lookman has registered eight goals and three assists.

Atalanta coach Gasperini has been quite impressed with Lookman’s development, and he praised the Nigerian forward after the club’s game against Sporting.

“We all see Lookman‘s potential and speed , but we must admit that he once didn’t play so offensively,” Gasperini said per Pazzi di Fanta.

He used to score 6/7 goals a year, while now he is quick, good at dribbling, even strong with his head. I encourage him because every now and then, he hides from the game, but I believe that when he approaches the area, he can become a reference player for our team.”

Atalanta are currently pushing for a Champions League spot in the Serie A. They are just five points away from their target. Gasperini will be hoping that Lookman clicks in the final few games of the season and spurs the club to reach their target.
