Victor Osimhen to return to action for Napoli in UCL clash against Barcelona

Osimhen returned to Napoli late after the AFCON, and he missed their game against Genoa last weekend

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will be available for selection for Napoli when they play Barcelona in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen returned to Napoli on Thursday night after a decent campaign for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The prolific 25-year-old striker was supposed to return on Thursday morning, but he returned to Napoli at night and had to sit out their game against Genoa last Saturday.

Consequently, they went on to draw the game 1-1. However, ahead of the game against Barcelona, Osimhen looks set to make his return. In a video posted on Napoli’s X page, the Nigerian hitman was captured training with his Napoli teammates at the club’s training facility.

Osimhen looked very lively and worked well with his teammates, indicating that he is fully fit for the fixture against Barcelona on Wednesday.

Napoli just sacked Walter Mazzarri over the weekend. So Osimhen and his teammates must adjust to their new manager, Francesco Calzona.

The Partenopeans will be aiming to claim an advantage against Barcelona at the Stadio Diego Maradona before travelling to Spain for the second leg in three weeks.
