“I’m over the moon” – Fulham’s Iwobi ecstatic after scoring winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford

Fulham signed Alex Iwobi on the deadline day of the summer transfer window from Everton in a deal worth twenty-eight million euros.

Super Eagles and Fulham attacking midfielder, Alex Chuka Iwobi has shared his feeling of ecstasy after scoring a late winner to help his side defeat Erik Ten Haag’s Manchester United, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iwobi, 27, was a victim of harsh criticism after Nigeria’s AFCON 2023 final loss against Ivory Coast but shut his critics up today after coming up trumps for the Cottagers.

Since making the switch to London in the summer, Iwobi has featured in twenty-three games for Marco Silva’s side and scored his fifth goal for the club today.

The former Arsenal man was brimming with joy after the game and didn’t hold back about how much the goal meant to him.

“I’m over the moon right now, to win at Old Trafford in the last minute is crazy, there’s no better feeling. We feel like we performed really well, we’ve been performing well recently, and today is a step in the right direction and hopefully, we can kick on from there,” the one-time FA Cup winner said in quotes revealed by the club’s official website.

Iwobi’s composure under pressure for the winner left Manchester United’s Andre Onana no chance and the versatile midfielder explained how he put the ball in the back of the net in detail.

“As soon as I cut inside, I felt like the keeper was going to be in the far corner, so I gave him the eyes and it went in. I haven’t seen his reaction, but everyone said he couldn’t move, so a goal is a goal, I’ll take it and move on to the next,” he added.

Fulham will look to build on their positive form in the league as they welcome Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton and Hove Albion to the Craven Cottage.
