Atalanta boss Gasperini shares Ademola Lookman injury update ahead of Serie A cracker against Chukwueze’s AC Milan

The Super Eagles star has not played for Atalanta since he returned from AFCON duty with Nigeria

Atalanta coach Gian Pero has revealed that Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman has been passed fit for their Serie A clash against AC Milan on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lookman was one of the best players for the Super Eagles at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire. The 26-year-old forward registered three goals and one assist in his seven appearances.

However, Lookman arrived at Atalanta with an injury and had to sit out the last game against Sassuolo, which they won 3-0.

Next up for La Dea is a fixture against AC Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday. And ahead of the fixture, coach Gasperini has revealed that Lookman will be fit for the game.

“His (Lookman) return is a further reinforcement for us, he had a good training session yesterday, the pain has reduced a lot, he is ready tomorrow to be able to give us what he has already given us in the past,” Gasperini said per Pazzidifanta.

Lookman has been brilliant for Atalanta this season, registering seven goals and three assists in 18 appearances. However, since he left for the AFCON, Atalanta have won all five of their games.

Lookman will be looking to keep Atalanta’s winning streak if he plays tomorrow. Samuel Chukwueze will be on AC Milan’s side, and it promises to be an enthralling clash between the two Nigerian stars.
