Ademola Lookman has now scored three goals at the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast alongside bagging one assist against Equatorial Guinea.
Super Eagles and Nantes winger, Moses Simon, was brimming with happiness after Nigeria secured their semi-final spot at the AFCON 2023 tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.
Moses, 28, played a huge role in the win for Jose Peseiro’s men as his mazy run and well placed pass found Ademola Lookman on the edge of the box and the Atalanta forward hammered the ball home.
The goal was all that the Nigerians needed to go a step closer to triumph in Ivory Coast and Moses was pleased with the team’s performance after collecting another man-of-the-match award.
“I feel very happy, but the most important thing is the victory,” the pacy winger said in his post-match presser.
Quizzed on what was going through his mind before the pass he laid to Ademola Lookman, the Yellow Canary said;
“What was going through my mind was to find Lookman or Victor or go for goal myself but at this point we don’t have to be selfish. We want to put the team first and get wins.”
Victor Osimhen’s goal was ruled out for offside, and the striker has scored just one goal all tournament. Moses mentioned that the striker’s lack of goals hasn’t deterred his mood, and he’s committed to helping the team win.
“Actually, the mood is very good in the camp and it’s the same with Osimhen. We don’t even think about this. What we think about is victory and if he gets the chances, he’ll score,” the former Levante man added.
Moses has now won two man-of-the-match awards at the AFCON 2023. The first award was against Guinea-Bissau, and the second against Angola.
