Emmanuel Dennis was included in Jose Peseiro’s 40-man AFCON 2023 provisional list but was left out of the final 25-man list that travelled to Ivory Coast.
Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Emmanuel Dennis has rejoined Watford F.C. on loan after having his loan at Istanbul Basaksehir terminated, Soccernet.ng reports.
Dennis, 27, left Nottingham Forest on loan last summer after falling down the pecking order up-front and on the flanks. The signature of Chris Wood, Divock Origi, Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi meant the Nigerian had to move on in search of playing time.
He signed for Turkish side, Istanbul Basaksehir on a season-long loan deal, but the move didn’t go according to the plan for Dennis and the club.
He started just four games, and came off the bench another four times, failing to score or create a single goal. Basaksehir, meanwhile, are tenth in the Turkish Super Lig, nine points behind the top four spots.
Soccernet.ng earlier reported that the former Club Brugge forward had reached an agreement with The Hornets to join the Championship side on loan till the end of the season.
Watford took to their social media page to announce that Dennis will be rejoining the club after his initial spell in the 2021/2022 season where he scored ten goals in thirty-seven games for the club.
Emmanuel Dennis took a 70% pay cut to return to the club and help them push for promotion as they’re currently ranked 9th in the EFL Championship table, three points below the play-off spots.
The former Koln forward is primed to start in Watford’s clash against third-placed Southampton on Sunday.
