The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the AFCON 2023 round of sixteen, as both teams look to win the competition, but only one side will go through this evening.

Both teams have eight AFCON trophies between them, with Cameroon winning five and the Super Eagles winning three.

Soccernet.ng takes a look at the statistics of both nations and how they fared against each other in the past, highlighting which side history favours.

Cameroon have won five AFCON trophies, beating Nigeria in three of the five finals to take the trophy home. Aside from the meeting of both teams in the AFCON finals, the Super Eagles haven’t lost to the Indomitable Lions in AFCON.

Both teams drew 1-1 in their group-stage clash in 1988. Samuel Okwaraji broke the deadlock two minutes into the game by scoring a peach of a goal before Cameroon Legend, Roger Milla equalized with a headed goal.
