AFCON 2023: Jose Peseiro outlines Super Eagles plans against Guinea-Bissau

Super Eagles defeated Ivory Coast and drew against Equatorial Guinea and are currently second on the AFCON 2023 Group A table, two points behind the Equatoguineans.

Super Eagles boss, Jose Vitor Peseiro, has highlighted his plans for the Nigerian football team ahead of their game against Guinea-Bissau, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Portuguese tactician guided Nigeria to a crucial win against the host with a solid defensive performance, and his team needs just a point to be assured qualification to the round of sixteen.

Speaking in his pre-match conference, the former Porto manager highlighted his plans, mentioning that he wants his team to remain as focused as they’ve been so as to avoid complacency in their next game.

“We won, we defeated Cote D’ivoire, but it’s in the past. We are in the present and a win will be good. It will improve the confidence in the squad. We will go to this game with the same or more focus, more demand, and even more commitment and we won’t relax,” Peseiro said in his pre-match conference ahead of Nigeria’s clash against Guinea-Bissau.

For the Super Eagles manager, nothing but three points will do against their foes tomorrow, as he has eyes locked on the first position in the group.
“Sometimes you have so much confidence and you relax. It’s an important match for us and we want to reach first position. To get there, we must do our job, and that is to beat Guinea-Bissau,” the 63-year-old added.

Guinea-Bissau are the only team in Group A without a point so far, and the Super Eagles will be hoping it stays that way after both sides meet tomorrow.
