Sadiq Umar seems to be finding his feet after a long spell on the sidelines, and he may get an award following his recent form
Sadiq Umar’s goal for Real Sociedad against Osasuna has been nominated for the Spanish Laliga Goal of The Month Award, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sadiq returned to full action after he missed most of last season due to injury. The Nigeria international struggled to get his form at the start of the season, but coach Imanol Alguacil kept his faith in him.
Sadiq finally returned the favour on the 26th of November when he scored a monstrous goal for Real Sociedad to help them to a 2-1 win over Sevilla.
A week later, Sadiq produced another brilliant goal in Real Sociedad’s draw away at Osasuna. The Nigerian striker received the ball in the final third of Real Sociedad’s attack, dashed to the edge of the D, and struck a wicked rocket that flew into the net to give his side the advantage.
In a related development per Mundo Deportivo, Sadiq’s goal against Osasuna has been nominated for Laliga’s Goal of the Month.
The goal was nominated alongside Brahim Diaz’s goal against Villarreal and Aitor Ruibal’s strike against Real Madrid.
Sadiq made Jose Peseiro’s 40-man provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and he will make the final list except something special happens. The 26-year-old is yet to reach his best, though, but he will hope that soon, he will be firing on all cylinders.
