Rasheedat Ajibade emphasizes the balance between youthful and experienced players

Super Falcons stand-in captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has shared her thoughts on their recent victory against Cape Verde, Soccernet.ng reports.

Reflecting on the team’s performance and their 5-0 win, the Atletico Madrid forward emphasized the importance of not resting on their laurels and aiming to continue their momentum from the game played at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

Justin Madugu’s squad secured victory against Cape Verde, with braces from Esther Okoronkwo and Uchenna Kanu, along with a goal from Gift Monday.

Looking ahead to the next leg of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cape Verde, Rasheedat expressed her hopes that the team maintains their current level of performance.

“It’s still work in progress, we have to build up from where we stopped today. So it’s not the best game, we could be better because we know we’ve set standards for ourselves. So we just have to keep building up to that standard,” she stated.

The team showcased a blend of experienced players like Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Peace Efih, Esther Onyenezide, among others. Ajibade highlighted the positive impact of this mix on the team dynamics.

“It’s very important to have youthful players in the team and you also have experienced players in the team because you have so many youth players and there is no experience, sometimes experience beats youthfulness,”Ajibade explained.

“Most times when we have a couple of youth and the experienced one on the team it really helps. You can see the impact of Osinachi Ohale in the defense line being an experienced defender so it’s not easy like that because she’d have a wealth of experience, and she can bring in her experience to help the young ones on the team. So when we have the experienced one on the team, it helps the experienced players to blend in the team very easily.” she added.

The Super Falcons aim to secure their advancement to the next round when they face Cape Verde on December 5th.
