Gift Orban’s Frankfurt and Tottenham transfer pursuit: What is happening?

Gift Orban has been previously linked with a move to Tottenham who are vying to sign him as a replacement for Harry Kane who joined Bayern Munich

Soccernet.ng reports that German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt is withdrawing their offer for Nigerian striker Gift Orban.

The Nigerian attacker gained attention from top European teams after a remarkable season at Gent, scoring 20 goals in 22 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign, following his move from Stabaek Fotball earlier this year.

Rumors linked him with Eintracht Frankfurt, who reportedly bid €20 million to bolster their squad with the signature of the Super Eagles prospect.

However, German reporter Florian Plettenberg disclosed ongoing talks, indicating that Gent is demanding more than €20 million to sign Orban.

Unfortunately, reports from the same German transfer expert suggest that Eintracht Frankfurt is unwilling to meet this higher demand, resulting in the collapse of negotiations.

Initially considered a potential replacement for England international, Harry Kane, at Tottenham after his move to Bayern Munich, this turn of events might offer Tottenham an opportunity should they decide to exceed the €20 million offer.

Nonetheless, earlier reports from Soccernet.ng indicate that the probability of Orban leaving Gent in January remains slim considering the title race of the Buffalos in the Jupiler Pro League, and Orban is a key player for Gent in that course

  • There is no way Tottenham will sign Gift . The AFCON starts next months for 6 weeks -Nigeria have the potential to go all the way - Spurs will be without 2’ other African players and Son who is going to the Asian Cup . There will be no benefit to Spurs in the short term to sign a player that may not be around for 6 weeks. The same for most African players who may be away for 5 weeks if he doesn’t make the final list then that may be a different cup of tea
